We spent the 1st and 2nd of may in the Spanish Wines Fair of Moraira, invited by our distributor in Valencia, Rumial. This fair, attended by exporters and restaurant managers, was a great opportunity to test the good acceptance of our new harvest of godello and mencia wines, which are in the perfect moment for comsumption.
After months of elaboration and storage, we started this week the bottling of our latest harvest, starting with Casal de Furcos ROCÍO Mencía. The newness this year are the formats of magnum with several sizes which are becaming very popular in restaurants. We have also tested how the wines have a better evolution in this bigger bottles, showing different values after a time storaged.
These late sunny days where very suitable to check the good progression of the vineyards and start with the green pruning, made to guide the growing. This is the way to help the sun to feed the plant in a balanced way and make easier the apply of different treatments. The result is, also, these nice look in the vineyards, all in a raw.
This has been a rainy winter so all the works at the vineyards had taken longer, specially the pruning that took as several weeks. Great part of the quality of every harvest lays in this methodical work as the plant has to be ready for the bloom during the spring, when natural life comes back to the countryside.
We wanted to start 2014 thanking our Facebook followers with a wine for their last Christmas celebrations. They had to share a picture in their personal wall to get into the contest for a magnum bottle of Casal de Furcos ROCÍO mencía. Bea Alva won the contest and we sent her this letter to ask her to come to get her prize.
